KenS, these are really tough. Inside of the rubber is a steel core and these seals are an unusually tight fit. If you can borrow a mechanics' pry bar with about a 1/2" wide tip that will often work. Push 'in' on the handle while prying. also I found this pretty good trick but it will only help if you know someone with a stash of old 900 five speed parts; get an old layshaft and put the slotted end in the seal and pry. Most 900 five speed rebuilds create a scrap layshaft (cluster gear support shaft) and it's as if they were designed for this task. Wipe some "Permatex form-a-gasket #2" around the outside of the new seal if you suspect gouges in the bore. Good luck.
