Hi Arty, welcome to the Saab family. Sometimes you can actually turn the oil filter by hand, you just need to have strong hands and every thing be clean for a good grip. Alternately, I'd purchase a package of two sizes of strap wrenches for oil filters. In my set the smaller one was the correct size. I did modify it by cutting the lever shorter to clear the inside of the fender well and it's been going great for 17 years and 9 cars. I've seen it still available, it's a standard size. You could use your new filter as a guide on size.
A trick that the good mechs use is to get the filter loosened, then slip a zip lock or other similar bag under the filter, spin it off and remove the bag with filter inside it. helps keep colatteral oil damage to a minimum.
I have an oil drain pan with a mount to put the old filter on it upside down and drain it's contents into the oil from the engine too.
Also, to make your job easier on the new oil change remember to run a oil on the rubber gasket on the new filter. They always say to use new oil but this is what I do. I take the used filter and butt the new and used together, rubber gasket to rubber gasket, and give them a couple of twists to coat the new with oil from the old.
Then I put on, spin tight, and only use my hand to grip and tighten. Never had a problem with leaks or getting it off the next time.
