A few things I learned about my clutch today...

This info is for my '86 900T. This is hopefully helpful advise for anyone doing a clutch, esp. '86. First, I didn't have hydraulics, but RayF's method of putting the nuts under the 'ears' of the plate worked like a champ. Second, I didn't have a 'special tool,' but I had bought 8 gauge copper wire. At least for my '86, not thick enough. So I was struggling to get the slave out, etc. Finally gave up and grabbed a 5 gallon pail handle wire. Perfect thickness, but harder to bend than copper of course, so I suggest trying 6 gauge copper wire.
Hopefully my slave cylinder is still ok after I banged it around so much. I'm really just doing this to swap trannies not replace a clutch so I'm going on the cheap now, might regret it later :)
Biggest takehome message, if you have no hydraulics or if you are taking the engine out, then RayF's method to get the pressure plate fingers down is awesome.
