its the weak link and saab techs preach its care. I rebuilt mine when I got it (orig tranny died 1 month after buying it used - figures) and its run 70K miles with modest mods (as described sans water injection). Also, its nice that your APC is red box but make sure to tune wastegate to the proper spec, its likely off. That said, I get on my turbo whenever I can, but the car is a city driver and with maintenance (fluid changes) I think the tranny will outlive the body. The newer, stronger pinion bearing (typical of '89+ trannys) makes a difference in longevity.
I run BFG traction T/A in 205/50 r16. Its the closest to oem spec size. I have super aeros (all silver with turned over spoke edges).
also - don't worry too much about the turbo cool down. thats an old oil-cooled turbo rule. water cooled mitsu's are fine. I have a few side streets to drive after getting off the highway which is more than enough cool down.
enjoy.
