I found out that it is the little things that make the revs "flow" -- sounds like you have the fuel delivery issue worked out with the cleaning -- as I recall didn't you have the injectors cleaned and matched by a company?
I found that getting the ignition system, and timing correct to specs helped make my engine get to 4K and then want 6K. I would start with the plugs and work back. Proper gap, good wires, grounds -- anything that can help to better the spark is a good thing.
Timing is another step, and once it is set properly, you may notice an immediate difference. I noticed small improvements all along this path, and the final improvement was a new rubber chain pad inside the valve cover. I can't explain why it smoothed out the engine, but perhaps it helped keep the cams more accurate, and then maybe it was my imagination. Maybe Phillips 66 started getting better gas that day.
