clutch bleeding observation FYI

R&R'd my clutch today to replace a seized release bearing. Interesting in that it subsequently spun the slave shaft and ground it down. Lots of metal coating everything. I drove it this way for a week and it never lost pressure. Nice.
Anyway, while bleeding the clutch today I had the worst time getting pressure back. I used both pressure and vac from the mity but it still wouldn't firm up. Finally what did the trick was to attach a hose to the bleeder and create a mini p-trap. The slave was sucking in a tiny bit of air - even with super diligent bleeding technique. With the p-trap it took 3 pumps of the pedal and it was firm. Too bad I sprayed a whole pint of fluid into the engine compartment before figuring this out!
