I like the look of the clear corners.
i have the K&N filter for the stock can. I have an 85 but the lid is from a different car so my air filter wasn't making contact at the top. There was a 1/2 inch gap so air was not being filterd by the stock filter. When I found that I put some rubber insulation around the rim of the filter. At that point the stock filter was so restrictive my gas milage and performance went down the drain.
I replaced with K&N and its just like it was before when the stock filter had the 1/2 inch gap. It really breathes. Plus with the stock snorkle running to the fender well it gets plent of cool air. I did have to use insulation to make it fit because it was the same size as the stock filter.
I don't think you can get much better than the stock replacement K&N just because it has so much area, but that's just my opinion.
