Hi All,
I have an '89 SPG with 212K (slightly modified), it's been rock solid in terms of reliability, but I moved from NH down to MA recently and had to get a new inspection sticker. First time around I passed safety but failed emissions due to high NOX. I figured it was my "timing mod" (advance timing to 20 deg etc. as detailed on the Perf board). I turned it down, did a full tune up by replacing plugs/cap/rotor.

So, the second time around, they fail me for safety stuff!! So I replace tires with snows, patch up a small hole in the floorboard, and third time around they tell me the exhaust is too loud. So apparently MA has a nebulous rule about "loud exhausts", I have an MSS that to me doesn't sound much louder than stock... So, what's the best solution here, I am guessing that I can just have a new muffler welded in? I know there are Mass residents on this board, anyone have experience with the Starla OEM muffler from Eeuroparts, is it quiet enough?

Help, I'm starting to get frustrated!!
