Replacement is very easy. Remove the black nut on the outside base of the antenna unit. Have the radio on, feed the toothed nylon end into the antenna opening as far as you can, shut off the radio, and the power unit should pull the mast in. It mught take a few on/off cycles before it is fully installed.
I have bought them from site sponsors, usually for a reasonable price. I don't know if the aftermarket ones fit.
