Run some prestone radiator flush in the car for whatever time they recommend. I think one of their treatments you drive for a week and with the high power stuff, you idle the engine for an hour. it's been awhile.
Drain the coolant from the radiator(petcock is fragile and if stuck you can break the nipple at the radiator(new radiator time). Lower radiator hose is plan B to drain if petcock is stuck. Remove the block plug(small bolt on passenger side of block under exhaust). Once you know where it is you can get to it from above...reachable but blind. Replace block plug, tighten petcock or reconnect the lower hose.
Remove the thermostat, and put the thermostat housing back on (minus thermo). Pull the heater hose that goes from the pipe under the intake runners. Put heater temp to high to open the heater valve.
Stick a garden hose nozzle into the heater hose and run for up to an hour or until the water comes out of the heater nipple on the firewall clean. Then stick the hose into the reservoir and clean out anything else.
Refill with Mercedes Benz coolant or the G-05 stuff for Chrysler Corp. The MB stuff is not that expensive. If we all had doen this from low mileage, we wouldn't be replacing headgaskets at 200k.
