whitesaab & vsfoxe are right you can tell by looking at your exhsaust manifold there will be a black spot that starts to form from being hit with oil, there is a upside to this, after some time you manifold will turn itself black, way cool
but just to be sure take your finger and run it on the edge where the valve cover meets the head (just above the exhsaust manifold) if you find some fresh oil then you will need a new gasket, no prob at all- with a wire brush, torque wrench (rent one at autozone), a foot socket extention, a rag, and a hour (3 if your me), and last but not lest a new valve cover gasket, and your done.
