1979-1993 & 94 Conv [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
Having becoma addicted to saab 9oo`s by way of owning a tatty `88 8v turbo
five door I recklessly took the plunge and spent a fair amount on a 93 conv in imacculate condition, full service history etc.. However I was surprised to see it was fitted with a bleed valve and the APC disconnected.
no mention of this anywhere in the history. the valve was barely closed and performance was very poor(my stock 8v very much quicker) I reconnected evrything and find that it goes like a rocket at low engine speeds but when on the open road it overboosts like crazy, performance is low and hits fuel cut-off all the time,(about halfway into the red)
I have swopped the APC box... no difference
I have swopped the solenoid valve ...no difference
i`ve put a 100 ohm resister in the orange wire from AMM..no difference
I`ve disconnected APC ...runs base boost (halfway into orange)
I`ve disconnected solenoid ..base boost again.
I think the actual turbo maybe a mitsubishi definitly looks different to the garret on my 8v, much bigger wastegate, this really bugging me now,
I`ve tried to think of everything before bothering you guys with this but I really dont know what to do now, I do have a set blue injectors and a 3.0 FPR I could fit in order to increase the AMM orange wire resistor would this work do you think...not to increase power but to stop the damm thing cutting out. It has 100k miles on the the clock and I notice that a previous owner was complaining about loss of power on the motorway at about 30k miles? its an automatic and when in base boost can actually use the kickdown!!
Any thoughts on this will be very gratefully received i`m thinking this car may have been like this for a long time pressure transducer mebbe?
thanks in advance for any clue
