My car is a '90 Turbo (SPG). My Odometer has failed, and I want to retain the correct mileage reading. Saab EPC says '89, '90, or '91 Normally Aspirated is same Speedometer. Went to Auction Site, got Instrument Cluster for '89, but upon arrival it takes the old-style Speedometer Cable (cable has a metal end, not the white plastic end like the '89 and up). So it's really an '86/'87/'88 unit.
I've looked hard at EPC, and at the Transmission (5-speed) the Sleeve, Gear, O-ring and Seal looks to be the same for '86 thru '93. Only difference seems like the Cable and Speedo Head.
My Question: Anyone know if I can use the '88 & older Speedo Head, if I use the Older Cable? Or modily my present '90 Plastic-ended cable to fit the '88 and older Head Unit?
Thanks in advance,
Vern
