The fuel pump relay is a bit more than a relay. If you don't hear that initial squirt of gas (initial mommentary fuel pump comes on for a second when you first turn the ignition key to "on" but not fully to "start"), then suspect the ignition control circuit fuses, ignition switch or wiring. If you have that initial pump gas priming then look to the ignition control module. The fuel pump relay MUST recieve electrical pulse signals from the ignition control module (which indicates the plugs are actually firing) before it allows the fuel pump to run continuously. That is a safety feature which prohibits fuel from being pumped continuously into the intake manifold without the possibility of the engine being started (no spark available).
