I lowered my 85 turbo with Intrax springs and I was bouncing all over the place. I thought my Boge-turbo shocks couldn't dampen the stiffer springs, so I upgraded to the Bilstein HD. I still bounced a lot, but not as much.
Finally I figured out that I was bouncing off my rubber bumpstop. The shocks didn't even have a chance to do their job because the bumpstop had hardly any clearance before it would make contact.
Once I cut ONE BULB off the bumpstop I finally felt like all my suspension work was worthwile. No more bouncing! The bumpstop can be cut off in place. I jacked up one end of my car to expose the spring. I lubed-up my hacksaw with oil or soap and cut it through the spring coil.
Hope this helps; it beats having to buy new shocks. Bilsteins should be OK. Do you have the HD or the other kind?
Aloha, Chris
