Clutch problem, Master or Slave, and tips?

Here's what I've got so far (also a continuation of previous clutch problem posts).
I depress pedal, clutch plates are pushed in. 2-3 seconds later, gear is engaged as pressure plate has re-connected. Checked visually with car off, after 2-3 seconds, the slave cylinder starts retracting, and the pressure plate re-engages the shaft. Even with car off, engine not running, all pressure is completely lost in under 30 seconds.
Dirt and grime cover the slave cylinder, and coat the bottom of the housing that they flywheel and clutch are in.
Should I be able to see an actual leak, like see fluid dripping out of the slave if it is a blown seal? I've got a stain the size of a manhole cover on the driveway from the last week, so I know it's leaking a lot. Leak drips off of engine guard on primarily the driver's side of the car. There are practically puddles forming on the engine guard.
What should I be looking for? I'm guessing it's the slave...but I'm new to the more significant repairs (This is my first real repair on a C900).
Any tips for slave rebuild? I know the removal tips with using a screw, the no-pry method, of removing the shaft, but anything to look out for with the slave rebuild itself?
Any other tips or suggestions?
