Chas Man, Major bummer! Of course all multi-port fuel injected cars have the potential for engine fires. Where the fuel lines attach to the fuel rail there are seals which can leak and allow fuel to be sprayed, under pressure, all over the engine. Then all you need is a little spark from a funky bit of wiring. Turbochargers can get hot enough to ignite fuel vapor too. Once a little fuel gets some plastic burning it can blaze like an inferno. I've seen C900s that had engine fires, mostly in salvage yards, but it's not just a C900 thing. I've seen plenty of other makes torched this way too. If your car was leaking fuel in the driveway when not running and so not (continuously) pressurized then it had to be really spraying big time under pressure. Hope that your insurance helps you out. Good luck.
