My '93 900S non-turbo has an ignition problem I can't seem to diagnose correctly. It had been starting hard for a few weeks, taking 10-15 seconds of cranking to catch, then one morning it took 25-30 seconds, and while driving that day, the engine died with no sputtering, and the tach deadlined.
It seemed that there was a quiet clicking sound coming from the dash or engine compartment for a few seconds 2 or 3 times shortly before it died (I don'r know if it's related...)
I've been trying to diagnose it from photocopied pages from the bentley manual, but I don't seem to be having any luck.
Going down the test procedure:
Knock sensor output- registers voltage when tapped
Power to EZK control unit- 12.6v between (what I believe are) pins 6 and 20
Power to amplifier- 12.6v between terminals 4 and 2
Power to coil- 12.6v between coil terminal 15 and ground
Coil primary and secondary resistance- 0.8 ohms between 15 and 1, 7400 ohms between 1 and center tower
Amplifier switching function- voltage between coil terminals rises to only ~0.01V when ignition is switched on. AHA! Must be a bad amplifier. Replaced amplifier, new amplifier also shows only 0.01V !?!
Pulse signal from EZK to amplifier- bentley manual says to "peel back the rubber boot on the control unit connector" The connector to the EZK unit is molded plastic- I cannot connect voltmeter to terminals while it is plugged in. Also, I am not positive about the terminal numbering. I am assuming that

is the numbering, looking down on the female connector pins. Is this correct?
Check the Hall sensor signal to EZK- again, manual calls for peeling back the rubber boot
Check for voltage to Hall sensor- Same problem.
Does anyone have any suggestiions on how to perform these last three checks, short of drilling holes into the plastic connector? Are these wires accessible elsewhere? I suppose I could run a probe into the wires where they come out of the plastic connector, except that I don't have the wiring diagram, so I don't know which wires are what color. Does anybody have the wiring diagram handy that could tell me the wire colors for terminals 2,4,5,10,20 and 24? Or possibly even a scanned or .pdf copy of the ignition wiring diagram?
I know I should pick up a copy of the bentley manual, but money's a bit tight right now, and I also wouldn't be able to get one before mid-week even so. I'd really like to get this figured out this weekend....
