I use that method when the clutch master cylinder needs bled of air if the line has been disconnected and all the fluid drains. Another method is to fit a funnel to the length of plastic hose attached to the slave nipple, then suspend that above the level of the master cyl. When fluid is poured in (including a fair amount in the funnel too) and the nipple is opened, gravity forces the fluid through the slave, the line and up into the master, replacing the air as it goes. It's slower, but then I get to do other things while that's happening. The final bleeding of the slave of all air is the method you described where you open the slave nipple (with the plastic tubing on the nipple and filled with some fluid) press and keep the clutch pedal to the floor, then close off the nipple and release the pedal. You'll see both fluid and air bubbles escape, but because fluid is in the hose, no additional air can be re-introduced.
