Did you bleed the system? The 900 cooling system requires bleeding after opening. And I've found that after major work (like a flush and fill),it doesn't hurt to re-bleed the system after an hour or three of running.
It's not clear if your temperature is rising too high, or simply rising to the normal level quickly. It's possible that your previous thermostat was stuck partially open, which would cause the temperature gauge to rise slowly, and possibly run cooler than normal. So what you're seeing is now the normal operation.
