If it sounds click, click, click when turning the wheels and driving forward under turn, it is the C/V joints being worn out.
Look under the car to see if the rubber boots are torn and the grease thrown out.
If the outer boots are still intact, someone may have installed cheap rebuilt axles at some point and time and they are now worn out.
If you are planning to do both sides at ones, one inexpensive way could be to swap the left for right C/V joint and get some more life out of them with new boots and grease.
That way, the worn surface clicking is only going to be noticable going backwards.
