Interior Light Failure - Let's Discuss the Brown Wire Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Seriously - this 92 900 has more weird problems than I've ever seen.
Interior light switch causes the lights to come on and stay on, regardless of the position of the doors. I tried removing the Door Chime relay and the Courtesy Light relay just to narrow the problem down, but as soon as the switch is flipped into Position 1, the interior lights come on even if the door is closed.
I took the switch out of the equation, and jumped Pin 2 (brown wire) to Pin 1 (blue wires) and the interior lights went on - with the doors closed.
Did a quick continuity check between the brown wire and ground - there is conitinuity even with the doors closed.
It appears the brown wire (which normally runs to the door jamb switches) is grounded somewhere. Anyone ever had this happen? Have any thoughtful locations to check. I'd rather not rip out the interior if I don't have to...
