My 900 has about 200K on it. Tough shift and low clutch go together. Doubt it is because of worn clutch liner with 70K. Master brake cylinder is only the fluid source for the clutch master cylinder. I suggest the following
1. If you feel no resistance for quite a bit of pedal travel when depressing the clutch pedal by HAND then look to a worn (elongated clevis pin hole)in the pedal arm where the pedal is attached to the master clinder plunger. Replace the pedal. You can see the slop in the linkage as you depress the pedal
2. If slop is not noticed in item 1 above then consider changing the master clutch cylinder (not the master brake cylinder). You may not even see a leak anywhere but the real cause is a worn internal cylinder walls or seals. That causes the fluid to leak back around the seals as you depress the pedal. I had changed only the seals before but at ~200K miles changed the master clutch cylinder itself. That restored my pedal friction point way up (about 3/4 the way up) the pedal travel.
