Puffy headliner - can I repair it?

My 1990 900 (Sedan / no sunroof) is getting puffy in places, starting to sag, in the middle about the front seats, and behind the handle above the passenger front door.
Is there any way to repair it without removing it completely? Can I somehow get some glue behind it to readhere it to the roof?
Anyone tried this? If so, what did you use and how did you do it?
Thanks for any help,
Todd inMA
