I would recheck compression of #3, but with a little bit of oil to see if the compression increases. If it does, then your rings need replacement. If it doesn't, then the valves are leaking. I had a low compression cylinder and thought it was a head gasket....head came off and lokked good. Turned out the head was cracked between two valves.
