Out of curiosity more than anything else, does anyone care to share their bottom end failure story? I have owned probably three dozen Saabs over the years, and never once has once had the bottom end fail. I've had warped heads and grenaded transmissions and all sorts of other things go wrong, but never seen the bottom half of the engine really have any issues.
I've got a 1993 900S that seems to have suffered spontaneous main bearing failure. The car was well maintained, the oil changed regularly, and there isn't any obvious sign of neglect. Still, one day the engine ground to a halt and the crank seized.
Just curious if anyone else has had such a thing happen...
