PAYPAL? Posted by LIFETIMEOFSAABS [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: CASH ONLY, Pete Kelly, Tue, 6 Jun 2006 09:36:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Personally I don't see a problem with a certified check. I have bought cars and have never had a problem. If you are concerned that the check is counterfeit...well then state that the car doesn't go anywhere until the check clears the bank.
As far as Paypal goes.. it's a great innovation. You could accept payment via PayPal. (Of course you can tell the buyer to pay extra to offset the PayPal fees if you want, too.)
People have all sorts of personal reasons for wanting a car...and this fellow seems really hopped up over yours.
Cash is not all it's cracked up to be. I had a friend sell an E-type Jaguar for $40,000. The buyer showed up with a paper bag full of cash.
Trying to deposit the money into the bank was quite the "joke" for him as he was immediately considered a drug dealer or something.
Another friend agreed to sell his Mustang to some kid for $1,200. The kid showed up with the cash but then he and his two friends pulled out a pistol and took the car and stole back the cash. Sure, the kid was arrested (at home!!) by the police who impounded the car (which was signed over) AND the money as evidence.
NYS DMV wouldn't let my friend change back the title and it took him over a year to get the money for the car!!
