hesitation prob fixed, culprit- Hall Sensor?( longish) Posted by JeffR [Email] ![]() ![]() |
My 1992 TC, about 6 months ago, seemed to start to hesitate on acceleration, and especially any upgrade. Thought maybe it was the fuel filter or spark plugs or maybe the Cap and Rotor needed attention. Well, today I decided to check the Distributor cap and after esearching this board, thought I'd take my first look at the Hall Sensor wires. It was a classic scenario. The connector plug was dangling loose from the side of the distributor. After taking cap and rotor off I noticed the yellow wire was broken. Maybe it happened after I tried to fit the busted up plug back in it's slot. Long story short- I took the Distributor out, took it apart, soldered the wire, make that "2" wires, as the black one broke off at the plug. I had to make-shift a plastic wire protector (cut it out of a 3 ring binder flexable cover) as the original was 1/2 worn out. Put everything back together and it runs FABULOUSLY! I marked the distributor so the timing would be right, but had to rotate it clockwise to run smooth, all by ear. Can NOT believe how much smoother it runs!! Anyone have the same experience?
