As stated before, it's pretty easy if you have the right tools. All you have to do (as I recall) is take off the low pressure return line with a screwdriver, disconnect the high pressure line with a wrench, and remove the nut that holds the FPR in place with a bigger wrench.
It helps if you run the car, then pull the fuel pump fuse and let the car die as the fuel pressure goes away. This relieves the pressure in the fuel system (mostly) so you don't get a spray of fuel out of the FPR when you loosen the fuel elbow to the fuel rail.
I just bought a new 3.0 bar FPR from one of the site sponsors for $60. I did it to get a little more oomph out of my 900T at WOT, and because I suspected I was running a little lean under boost (which turned out not to be the case, I now think).
