Yes it is, sorta...
As the clutch disk wears, it does NOT take more travel. The same amount of back & forth travel simply occurs at a new position. The slave cylinder becomes less & less extended as the clutch disk wears thin.
The hydraulic master cylinder allows fluid back into the reservoir as this happens. This makes it 'self-adjusting' in the sense that the pedal always operates over the same range of motion.
But eventually the slave cylinder retracts as far as it's gonna go. At this point the engagement point begins moving higher away from the floor. When it starts to move, you know you don't have much clutch left.
