I plan to do my own. Here's what I'm thinking.
Take a stock shifter. Using a dremmel cut the tack welds off the ball where it is attached to the shaft and remove it. Put the shaft in a lathe and cut two groves around it's circumference above and below where you want to remount the ball. These groves will get snap rings that will hold the ball in it's new position. Basically I plan to move the ball up the shaft about an inch. I don't want to weld it because I want to be able to possibly cut new snapring groves to make adjustments. Now your fulcrum is higer and your throws shorter. The only problem is that you need to raise the mounting point on the shifter housing the same amount. I have an extra shifter housing so I plan to cut off the mount, stack it on the one in the car and use longer screws to mount the shift back in and hold the whole mess together. I have a leather gear gaitor so It should fit under there nicely. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. This will keep the height of the shifter the same as OEM but the throw will be shorter. I don't know how it might effect the reverse lockout function yet.
