I had a severe problem on my 1990 900 Turbo after I changed the headgasket. The hall effect connector on the dizzy had broken as usual, and had a very iffy contact. As a result, it idled fine (well actually it didn't, but unrelated) but while driving, you'd get through 1st, then 2nd, then your head would hit the steering wheel and jerk back to the headrest as the car basically stalled and restarted as the contact was lost / established. I soldered a pin made from a clipping of a resistor and put it on the wire and then heat-shrink tubing and it's been fine since.
I notice on a couple of occasions on my 1987 900 S a "flat spot", sometimes on accel and sometimes while crusing. Just a momentary lapse of power, or a reduction in power. Only when I am below 1/4 tank... when the fuel pump starts making noise.
