Re: brake pad - rotor friendly Posted by Saana88 [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: brake pad - rotor friendly, vvack0matic ![]() |
I have been running metalmasters on the Zimmerman(n) rotors on two of my cars since '03. Decent wear life, good stopping power, very predictable feel to them, a little dust (I don't mind). In fact, one of my rear calipers started to sieze last December and the holy rotors kept the whole thing from overheating.
I am still curious, though. It looks like brake dust clumps get stuck in the chamfered holes; is there a good way to remove this? Should I? Should I care?
Yeah, I'm definitely NOT impressed with ceramics unless you've got really, really sticky tires or you routinely drive on a track. My friend had them on his 328 and even though they stopped fine, they were hard, they had a definite appetite for rotors (even his cryogenically-frozen ones, wooo), and you could hear him a mile down the road doing a diatonic chord on his brakes.
