did you have them change the oil and filter while it was there,
in some cases the filter is not put on tight for it to form a good seal and oil will run out the seal between the filter and motor, not much but just the amount to run down the filter and drip a few drops on your driveway,
it would be better if we know just how bad the leak is, a few drops over the night, or just pouring out the motor,
heres something you can try, you dont need to be a (do it yourselfer), for this one, open the hood and go around to the passengerside of the motor, unscrew the 2 bolts in the center plate covering the spark plugs, (the 2 bolts on the face side of the motor where it says saab 16 valve)

after the center plate is off look in the hole down by the spark plugs, looking to see if you find fresh oil, or any oil, you should find no oil anywhere at the base of the motor by the spark plugs, if you do you need a new valve cover gasket, put the cover back on, if you dont want to replace the valve cover gasket yourself take the car to some other garage
and have them do it
and do not take the car back to the garage where they said you need a headgasket,
or next time you pick up the car you just might,
for a garage to replace the headgasket your looking at a price from 800-1500 for a valve cover gasket 90-150 buxs,

see why the garage wants to change the headgasket

worse yet, they may know that all it is may be is just a valve cover gasket, so when you bring the car in for a headgasket job they replace the valve cover and charge you for the headgasket,
hey thats a 1000 buxs profit sounds good to me.
