My convertible when I got it required manual lifting and lowering of the top and it still does. The stupid hydrolics leaked all over the rear right seat and made a mess too, staining the carpet and mat. A tip for getting it down by yourself is to stand in the back seat and push directly up. Once there is a crack between the top and the windshield frame, bend your back and get a hold of the edge, and complete the process of pushing it down. As for getting it up by yourself, you're pretty much screwed. Just hope it doesn't rain.
Cheers,
Charlie
