The automatic tranny on my 91 900S convertible gave out. I found a low-mileage engine/5spdtranny on eBay ... thought I'd fix the car, have a 55k mile drivetrain AND get a 5 spd in the bargain. My local mechanic assured me he could do the job. I even got a Bentley manual and printed out the step-by-step procedure found on Saabnet as a guide for him.

One month later, old engine is out, interior out ... and he's stuck for an answer as to why he isn't completing the job. I know why. He's in over his head.

The car is in Cornwall, NY ... near West Point, 55 miles north of NYC.

I need someone to install the new drivetrain and hydraulics. All the parts are there including a new timing chain [since the engine is out of the car] seals, engine mounts, etc. A great guy in VT shipped all the parts necessary for the conversion, including a flywheel and clutch assembly that was missing from the donor drivetrain.

If possible, if you are a pro-mechanic, I need an opinion re: hours required to have gotten it to this point so I can settle up with the mechanic. If an overnight stay is required, I'd pay for motel ... or you can be our guest, we have lots of room.
