but it's a very clearly written procedure in case anyone wanted to try it.
i do have a leaky something (rack?)in my car so it might be worth destroying a rack to find out :-)

i'd think you might like to tap a grease fitting in the tube though, so you'd have a way to lube rack so you don't have to dissamble it when you wanted to re-grease. i would say plugging the hose fittings with plugs or welds would be the better way than just crimping off the old hoses. dirt and water are insidious migrators lol.

and what would de-powering the rack do? wouldn't it make steering more stiff? you'd be able to remove the pump, which would be one less thing to leak/dirty up engine compartment so that would be good. but what is the major benefit, why do people do this?
