Just because the back carpet is wet doesn't mean it's coming from there. There are rubber mats with foam padding under them underneath the carpet. You could actually have a leak up front somewhere and it is heading for the lowest point in the car before ponding. It could be traveling betneath the rubber pads under the carpet.
Check the AC duct under the hood. It is under the vented area on the right side near the windshield. If it fills with debris and cannot drain properly it could back up into the car. If it is clogged, pull out what you can, then pull off the rubber drain line and hose it out.
If the leak is in the rear and you had a new top installed it could be leaking from the screws that hold on the black piece of molding below the rear window. Those screws go all the way through the tack strip, through the body and protrude into the area behind the back seat and in front of the trunk liner panel. Check to see if your trunk is wet as well. If the shop that installed your top didn't get the screws back in the same holes then you have openings where the screws originally were.
