If you're feeling heat coming up there Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: tranny question, 87_900_spg, Fri, 14 Jul 2006 13:42:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
it's a different problem.
A couple of things come to mind:
- Maybe the heat shield above the catalytic converter is corroding away.
- Maybe the rubber piece around the shift shaft that separates the engine compartment from the passenger compartment is torn.
If it was a long, slow ride up the mountain, it's possible that the catalytic converter heat shield wasn't able to protect the underside of the car from all of the heat generated. It's well worth a look underneath the car to see what's up.
On my 2nd C900, a similar problem with the shifter assembly and key heating up turned out to be a cobbled-in heat shield that the previous owner made out of galvanized sheet metal.
