does the 87 radio have a dial for the volume or does it have push buttons? if it's like the radio in my wifes 87 900S it has push buttons. she (me too!) hated the way it worked. Also, there is an amp in back of the DIN box in the cubby in front of the stick shift.
I'm not sure the 92 has the amp. However, to answer your question, most of the Saab Clariion radios have connectors between the radio din box and the car. You should be able to swap another din box setup in if that's what you want. I don't believe the radio will plug directly into the existing din box. you can pull the radio out and look at the back of it and compare to the other radio. I suspect the plugs will either be at the wrong end of the back or turned 90 degrees.
But the first question is why do you want to do this? Is the current radio dead or broken in some way? May be cheaper and less headache to repair or replace with a like radio.
