Hello,
I am having the hardest time adjusting the shifter linkage on my 1985 SPG. I don't have a 1985 transmission. I have a 1993 engine in it with the 1985 engine mounts. The transmission is a 1992 transmission. I have adjusted the linkage and I can only get 1,2,3, 4 and reverse. I have taken it on a road test and when I try to go into 5 it goes into 3. I have used the shift button on the shifter that is used to put the transmission in reverse. I do know the centering hinge on the 1986 and earlier are next to the shifter where the centering on 87 and later are inside the transmission. Will this difference cause it not to go into 5 gear?
Can any provide me with simple instructions on how to do this. The transmission is good. It was working fine before the tranfer. Are there any tricks in doing this? I have looked on this site and the townsendimport site for input. Any help would be appreciated. I am looking for all suggestions. By the way, the mounts are good. Many thanks. george
