I just replaced mine a few months ago. Turned out to be a lot less agravating than expected. I had a bit of an advantage because i had taken the knee bolster in and out a few times and replaced things like the ventilation fan which gave me a some insight into the workings behind the dash.
The key to a quick job is to be absolutely scrupulous about labeling everything. Stick pieces of duct tape on each thing you remove and write down exactly where it came from. Maybe even take digital photos if you have a camera handy (i didn't). Also, if you are able to find a decent junkyard dash, cut all the wires behind the dash on removal rather than unplugging them. This will leave all the coloured wires in place to act as a guide when you connect everything up again (even without good labeling).
Apart from some difficutly getting my ductwork to go back together, the new-to-me dash went in quickly and everything worked properly on the first try!
