I have another possible solution. Been driving for the past 6 months with no carpets to track water ingress, and I believe (cross fingers) I've found it. Read on:

I sealed off all the aforementioned areas under the rear seat on my 'vert, and it's totally dry there now. But then I noticed that water will still weep through the seams that run 'fore to aft' from the area under the ECU and the corresponding area on the driver's side (both originate under the soundproofing material, which has to be pulled up to see this) - all the way back to the rear seat area. Saab did this LAME brown tape and 'gunk' sealing job with these areas, and a lot of it had deteriorated and let water in. Regardless of how clear the body drains are, these points are still in the ocassional path of water, and once even a small amount hits those cracks from the other side, the surface tension will draw it through into the cabin. I believe this is why the leaks are so inconsistent; depending on the grade on which the car is parked, rain flow and direction, etc. water will flow in slightly different directions each time and hit different areas - making the car bone-dry one time and wet the next.

I also noticed water weeping in under the floor seam which runs parallel to this area I just mentioned, just a few inches below and mostly under the seats. Again, it's a surface tension deal - not real 'leaks' per se.

My solution will be to remove both front seats, and hit every inch of possible seam (whether obviously leaking or not) with silicone. I'll post back after the next rain with my results.
