You use a deep socket that's bigger than the bushing under the housing and a smaller socket above the old bushing.
they may move around on you a bit - it's much easier w/ a press vs. a vise.
I'd pony up the $ for the press, it's worth the money to avoid a headache.
Stak them lke this:
press
sm socket
bushig housing
big socket
press plate
I didn't bother w/ poly so I don't know if they are more difficult.
Use dish soap of something slippery (that won't damage the bushing material) to help lube things up.
Since you have to take the ALT out to do the DS, go ahead and do the bracket bushings (use the rubber ones) and the Alt belt tensioner bracket bushings too (4 bushings total) and you're alt won't have the shakes.
I wouldn't call doing the uppers advanced - not any nmore skilled required as opposed to the lowers - just a little moer annoying.
remember three things:
only do one upper bushing at a time - if you take both off you may have problems getting them back on.
don't cross thread the bolts - they'll go in quite a ways with your fingers.
use the jack to counteract the spring - what I did was get some of the pressure from the spring off the upper a-arm. them I backed of the bolts a bit - maybe 1/2 way - then adjusted the jack so I could take the bolt out the rest of the way w/ only my fingers - it's easier than I'm making it out to be. the bolts will wiggle around as you jack up/down - so it's pretty easy to tell.
Take pictures if you can so someone can post - I should have.
One last thing that bit me - the inner part of the upper a-arm bushing is steel and it was stuck to the a-arm. I didn't notice it and thought I had the wrong bushings. Finially figured it out and got it off the a--arm and all was well.
