I usually just bleed when filling now, but I don't want to trust that one little jiggle pin on the thermostat to make sure everything passes through when I've taken out as much coolant as I had. I typically bleed with the motor running just to be sure nothing was left in the heater core (which I half-drained by changing the valve) or elsewhere if the car is not perfectly level. The thermostat is an OEM unit so that's taken care of. And finally, as a lifelong train fan, I can't let you go on spelling 'foam' wrong. Don't ask. The blue stuff is a low-foam long-life synthetic coolant. The green coolant in there before was new (nonrecycled) stuff too. You don't want to know what goes on half of the time with coolant recycling.
