alpine head unit removal

I am trying to remove the alpine head unit from my "new" 1991 900 because the prior owner lost the detachable face. I don't want to break the dash doing this but can't find any obvious keyholes or the like to release the thing. Alternatively, I could try to find a new face for the thing, but don't know the model number. He told me it was installed sometime in the early 90s and worked until the faceplate was lost. Anybody here have any hints to share? Thanks.
