myspv,
Those two transmissions are virtually identical in all important regards. the only likely gearing difference would be the primary drive ratio. Simplest thing is just to pop off the front cover while they are out and see whether the chain sprockets have the same numbers of teeth. You can easily swap them if you desire. Here's how; The upper chainwheel is held on with a snap ring that's inside the hollow sprocket and then it slides off. The lower chainwhell is secured with a staked nut. Use a squarely ground punch to defeat the staked spots. Remove the side cover that has the dipstick in it and unbolt the actuating lever of the reverse idler gear. Shift the tranny into first gear and then manually slide the reverse idler back to engage the mainshaft gear(so the tranny is in two gears at once). That locks the shafts and allows you to unscrew and then replace the nut on the lower chainwheel. Alternatively if you have a clutch shaft that you can trash, put it in place and hold it with a pipe wrench or big vice grips, then unscrew the nut in the lower chainwheel. That nut gets torqued to 100+or-10 Nm (74+or-7 ft/lbs). Clean the threads with carb cleaner and put some red (high strength) loctite on those threads and restake the nut. You usually have to employ those +or- 7 ft/lbs to make the used nut settle where it can be staked. (You can also buy a new nut). You have to slide the two chainwheels off and back on simultaneusly and secure the hydraulic tensioner shoes so they don't fall out when the chains are off. Good luck.
