Make sure steering wheel is centered. No matter how careful I am, I still often have to pull and adjust the wheel again after the procedure. Once the wheel is pulled you disconnect the plugs and the two screws holding it in place. Make sure the new one is centered just by turning it to the right and left, counting the revolutions. Thats all it takes. Usually when your sure its centered, you and pull and adjust the steering wheel without the need to recenter the clock spring (if its just a spline or two on the steering shaft).
The light will not reset itself as far as I know. In 6 years of being on this site, this is the first I've heard of that. Dealer or properly equipped indy.
