When you rotate the butterfly at the throttle body, do you feel the binding? If not, then it could be a rough spot in the cable to the pedal. And make sure the carpet isn't stuck in the gas pedal.
If you do feel binding as you turn the butterfly, it could be a few things. There is a dashpot there - it shouldn't be touching when the throttle opens, but anything could happen. And there is a throttle position switch that could be causing problems. Lastly, pull the fat hose off the intake and look in at the butterfly.
It's interesting that you have an issue at half-throttle that goes away at full throttle. Do you often drive at half to full throttle? Bear with me on this-
Most of the time you drive with only partial throttle. If an engine isn't producing as much power as you're used to, you push the throttle harder to go faster. For a slight power loss, you don't notice it as a power loss as much as the gas pedal feels harder to push. That's because there is a spring on the pedal, and the farther you push it, the harder it is to push.
So here's the question - is the pedal suddenly weird, or are you pressing the pedal more than you usually do, and are feeling something that has been there a long time? And if so, why is the car slower? Are the rear brakes dragging?
