OK
Got the $45 fan, which was definitely on the old side, likely older than mine.
I got the various things out of the way, unfortunately disconnecting the radiator hose for a second before thinking better of it with a burst of antifreeze. It was getting dark and everything seemed to be going wrong until the street lights lit up the brooklyn street and I could see everything well. ANyway I had to re-do everything the next day.
Anyway, the second old one from the driver side which I couldn't get to work before, worked better than the one I bought once I took everything out and conneced it to the other side.
I put that one in the passenger side, which seemed to be the cooling side, I think the "AC" fan is the driver side one?? I put the sketchy one I bought on that side and got it to work when the AC was put "on" and the fan switch was crossed.
thanks for the feedback, the fans are definitly interchangeable.
I figure it's fine to cut and replace conenctors and twist them up with wirenuts and tape them right?
it feels great to have fixed the car.
thanks!
